This workshop aims to be a crash-course in playing music with strudel.cc regardless of your experience with music theory or programming.

Patterns

You don't really need to know all the music theory to make something that sounds good. Sometimes you just need cheatsheets.

Slow down using /, Alternate using <>, Elongate using @, Replicate using !, Parallel using ,, Speed up using *, Sub-sequence using [], Rest using ~.

Add a melody or chords, modify the patterns, listen to them.

Community and playing together!

I've enjoyed playing with other people using flok.cc, and sometimes taking turns to write a line on the same computer feels much better.

Communities like Algorave India, livecode.blr are active in Bangalore. TOPLAP is quite an old organization operating around livecoding and they have an active discord server. The TidalCycles community also has a very active forum and discord server. You can stay connected with all other participants on our WhatsApp group.
